Consistent action creates consistent results." - Christine Kane Consistency is really the key... Remember that cute saying we all said as little kids?: "Practice makes perfect." Well, although that statement is partially true, there is another aspect to it that must be uncovered so that you can understand what that statement means in it's fullness. So, to put it another way, "PERFECT Practice makes perfect." By taking consistent, right action each and every day, you can begin to see the results of your perfect practice, which will create perfect, permanent, positive habits in your life. Here are three simple and easy ways to maintain a pattern of Consistent, Right Actions in your day-to-day life. #1): "Eat That Frog" like Brian Tracy Suggests In Brian Tracy's powerful book, "Eat That Frog", he suggests that you choose the top, most urgent goals that you MUST accomplish in that given day. For starters, and also for the best results, many successful people recommend only choosing THREE (3) goals that you want to achieve daily. This could even look like:
By doing this, you begin to enact that powerful law of "PERFECT Practice makes perfect." Again, remember that the goal is to be consistent in your "Perfect Practice" so you can begin to achieve great results. #2): Set That Timer so you can Get it Done! This is a step that I'm working on myself. If you've completed step one with ease, but now you're having problems staying on track, then this step should help you (and myself) tremendously! A great resource to help with this is to use an online timer: www.e.ggtimer.com. This site allows you to set short timers for yourself so you can stay on track. If you happen to be on another webpage when you "run out of time," it will alert you with a buzzing noise, as well as an alert on the screen... kind of like an online, digital alarm clock! So, when using this resource site, set timers of 15, 30 or even 60 minutes by which you are going to start on and hopefully accomplish one particular goal. By setting these timers for yourself, you should be able to stay on track a lot better, rather than allow yourself to become distracted and miss the mark. This also works great for doing your frogs. For example, let's say that you are working on the goal of "Working out for 15 minutes this morning." You'd simply go to www.e.ggtimer.com/15minutes and use this countdown timer to keep you on track for your workout session. This way, you'll know that you did your full 15 minutes, and can even check yourself off for accomplishing this as "Goal 1 out of 3" for that day. Try it out & see how it works for you. When you take action and "DO IT NOW," you are pushing yourself to do something towards your goal(s) NOW, instead of, "Someday when..." or "Someday If..." When talking about consistency, try to always remember this powerful quote: "Someday is a disease that takes your visions and dreams to the grave with you." - paraphrase from Tim Ferriss. Rather than pushing back the deadline for your goal(s), can't you find another way to make it happen? Instead of making another excuse of why you can't get to your new health goal, couldn't you muster up the energy to do one more set of crunches and eat another healthy meal? Of course you can! In the words of Henry Ford, "Whether you think you CAN or CAN'T, you're right." So, just go ahead and, "THINK YOU CAN" so you can "DO IT NOW!" Thus, as you begin to strive to do things NOW instead of later, you will see yourself accomplishing more of your goals & living a more fulfilling and happy life.
